This short course is ideal for those commencing/contemplating a career in Journalism or for existing journalists as a refresher course. It may also be useful for other careers where Shorthand is desirable.

Learners who successfully complete this module will

  • Acquire basic keyboarding and word processing skills required for work in print journalism
  • Understand the language and conventions of editing and sub-editing
  • Be able to move text into page design and layout format
  • Produce and design a page layout by a combination of electronic and cut and paste methods
  • Be aware of technical developments in the Journalism industry
